BURNDEN’S Liz McLellan again stole the show at the Blackleach 5M Trail Race as the club’s ladies dominated again, taking the team prize as a bonus.

McLellan was the first female finisher, coming home in 21st place overall at the race in Walkden and first F45 in a time of 33mins 39secs.

Paula Pilling was close behind, third female to cross the line and 25th overall, recording a time of 33:54 to win the F40 category. Gwen Kinloch was first F55 in 37:42.

Burnden had six finishers in the top 20.

Rob Short came ninth overall with a time of 31:26.

Lee White (32:09) was 10th and third M40, followed by Andrew Henderson, 12th, and Paul Duke, 13th in the same time of 32:18, Andy Staveley 17th and first M55 in 32:44 and Keith Thomas 20th and second M55 in 33:22.

Ed Ashton was third M50 in 33:59, Laurence Keighley second M45 in 34:13, Christophe Menand fourth M45 in 35:24, Paul Christie third M60 in 37:02, Don Nichol fourth M60 in 39:29 and Don Taylor, in his first outing in a Burnden vest, fourth M65 in 44:40.

Katy Thompson was second F40 with a time of 40:00, Fiona Ashton was second F50 in 47:20 and Lucille Corrigan was fourth F45 in 40:31.

Four members tackled the Langdale Half Marathon in the Lake District, recognised as one of the toughest in the country.

Jane Forrest was first F50, 12th female finisher and 77th overall in a great time of 1hr 56mins 51secs with Shirley Staveley close behind, second F50, 14th female and 83rd overall in 1:58:40. Jackie Roberts was second F60 in 2:14:52 while Liz Hopley completed the quartet in 2:35:21.
