ALL Bolton at Home Sunday League teams wore black armbands last weekend and there was a minute’s silence observed before each game as a mark of respect for the loss of one of the league’s younger players, Ffionbar Cullen, who died at the age of 17 earlier in the week.

Cullen played for Division Two side Church Reds FC and after the team decided they would go ahead and play their game in his memory, more than 150 turned up to witness a seven-goal thriller against Bradford Arms B.

Jordan Haslam scored twice and Scott Patterson once for Church Reds but they ended up on the losing side after Shane Garside, Jamie Stott, Liam Churchill and Anthony Heighway were all on the scoresheet for Bradford Arms B.

In the top-of-the-table clash in Division One between Astley Bridge Elite and Queen Anne, it was the latter who registered a convincing 5-1 victory away from home. Queen Anne’s scorers were Mark Truffas (two), Dev Sutherman, Gareth Cunniff and Nial Callaghan. They are now at the top of the table and lead Astley Bridge Elite by two points.

In the day’s other top-flight clash, Great Lever Taskers edged out Bradford Arms 5-4. Great Lever had control for most of the match but a spirited fightback in the last 20 minutes from Bradford Arms gave the match a nailbiting finish.

Great Lever Taskers' scorers were Arron McCarthy (two), Chris Cankalis (two) and Shane Burns, while Reid Davidson (two), Dominic Sharples and Danny Crank replied for Bradford Arms.

Bridge Celtic moved further up the table in Division One and now sit joint third following a resounding 7-4 victory over D Havilland.

A hat-trick from Gregg Travers and goals from Jake Ross, Marco Guido, Phil Nelson and Kane Morris sealed it for Bridge but D Havilland had fought back from 6-1 down notching three in the last 15 minutes before Bridge Celtic sealed their win by scoring the last goal of the game.

On the scoresheet for D Havilland were R Tate (two) and G Matthews (two).

In Division Two, the highest scorers of the day Deane Wanderers were easy 9-0 winners at Railway FC.

New Bury beat Lostock 8-1 with goals from Brent Halliwell (four), Aaron Sharples (two) and Craig Sloane (two) while Owen Wood got the consolation goal for Lostock.

Manny Road FC are now joint top after recording a convincing 4-1 victory at Atherton Town, Lee Hemmings (two), Alex Openshaw and Tom Winrow with the Manny Road goals.
