ONLY one fixture in Division One of the Bolton at Home Sunday League survived the wet weather and it was a day to remember for Great Lever Taskers.

They beat Hulton Wanderers 9-1 at Walkers to continue their good start to the campaign.

Both teams started brightly but Great Lever got the breakthrough on 20 minutes after a spell of pressure when Jason Perry finished off a good six-man passing move.

Man-of-the-match Perry was involved in most good things Great Lever did on the day.

The floodgates opened after his opener and Arron McCarthy netted his 18th goal of the season before Kris Preston made it 3-0.

Danny Lowe added a late first-half goal to make it 4-0 at the interval.

After the break, Great Lever came out of the blocks quickly and Hulton had no answer.

Preston scored with a great strike into the roof of the net to make it 5-0 before Perry added his second.

Despite being six goals down, Hulton kept going and scored a good goal through Chris Pritchard.

But Great Lever were not done yet and bagged another three goals before the final whistle through Ash Patel, Preston, with a penalty to complete his hat-trick, and Mark Grundy, who finished off in style with a bullet header from a corner.

Great Lever are fourth in the table, seven points behind leaders Astley Bridge Elite but with four games in hand.

In Division Two, high-flying Deane suffered a blow to their title chances when they lost 5-3 at Newbury, who moved up to second with the win.

A Brent Helliwell hat-trick and goals from Craig Sloane and Charlie Scholes did the damage for Newbury with Karl Dumbarton (two) and John Miller on the mark for Deane.

In the other game played, Deane Wanderers and Manny Road shared 12 goals in a 6-6 classic.

Chris McCaughtrie bagged four for Deane Wanderers with Liam Parkinson and Jacob Aspen also on the scoresheet.

Lee Hemmings and Ryan Aspinall both netted braces for Manny Road with Tom Helsby and Charlie Helsby also scoring for the league leaders.
