FORREST B produced a shock win to end Oakgate's 100 per cent winning record in A Section of the Bolton Badminton League.

Seventh-placed Forrest shared the first eight games with second-placed Oakgate, before pulling away to earn a stunning 11-7 victory.

It was an outstanding performance by Forrest, who had only won one match previously this season and went into the game on the back of two defeats, including an 18-0 drubbing at the hands of Markland Hill A.

Forrest's Simone Binnes and Phil Barlow shared the first match against Sandra Warren and Steve Warren, winning the first 21-15 before losing the second 21-19.

Mona Babuta and Nyan Min, Oakgate’s first couple, won their game 21-14 before Forrest’s second couple, Lisa Harrison and Chris Latham, took theirs 21-12.

In the third couples' clash, Oakgate’s Auya Ayub and Simon Froude edged the first game 25-23, and Lynette Tidy and Mahendra Patel won the second 21-10.

When the first couples met, Babuta and Min claimed the first game for Oakgate 21-13 and Binnes and Barlow hit back by winning the second 21-16.

The sharing sequence was broken when Harrison and Latham put Forrest in front for the first time, winning another close first game 22-20 and a more comfortable second 21-13 against Warren and Warren.

Going into the level doubles, Forrest were 6-4 ahead, and Tidy and Binnes extended the lead to 8-4 with 22-20, 21-13 victories over against Ayub and Babuta in the first pair of ladies’ games.

In the first pair of men’s games, Froude and Min hit back for Oakgate, taking both games 21-12 against Patel and Barlow.

Tidy, who won five of her six games, then beat Ayub and Warren 21-12 and 21-8 with her partner Harrison to clinch the match.

The final pair of men’s games were shared, with Oakgate’s Froude and Warren taking the first 21-17, and Patel and Latham winning the second 21-17.
