THE boys' cross country team at St George’s C of E Primary School in Westhoughton are Bolton Schools Cross Country champions for the first time.
They raced to victory, beating 35 other teams to win the town championships at Moss Bank Park.
St George’s girls’ team finished joint seventh in their competition against 38 other schools and there were individual successes for the school, too, with Jesse Hailwood, Finlay Horne, Sam Dixon, and Sophie Duke being chosen to represent Bolton at the Greater Manchester Championships in April.
Head teacher Philip Ivory, who also paid tribute to event organiser, Marion O’Donnell, for her work in staging the event, said: “The children were fantastic. The course was really challenging in places and they really excelled themselves by persevering when things got tough.”
