BOLTON United Harriers' Philbin sisters, Molly and Lily, battled hard in testing conditions at Oldham’s Tandle Hill in the South East Lancs Cross Country.

Lily clocked 9:46 to secure second place in the under-11s, while Molly came sixth in the u15s in a time of 21:21. Elsewhere, Paul Trainor clocked 1:08:38 for 132nd of the 961 field of the Stockport 10M while, on the continent, Simon Dally recorded another superb sub three-hour time for the Firenze Marathon in Florence.

His clock of 2:54:16 was for 200th overall of the 8,215 runners taking part.

The annual Bolton 10K race, hosted by Bolton United Harriers has been confirmed for Sunday, April 23. It is ideal for those wishing to target a challenge for the New Year, perhaps as part of a ‘get-fit’ regime.
