BURNDEN’S ladies again took the honours in the second of the South East Lancs Cross Country fixtures at Tandle Hill.

The trio of Lesley Fisher, Anne Ferguson and Gwen Kinloch claimed first place in the team standings for the L45 and L50 categories.

Fisher was first lady home in Royton, second l55 in a time of 32mins 57secs. Ferguson was the fourth F55 in 34:47 and Kinloch fifth L55 in 35:07.

The trio were placed sixth in the overall team standings and second in the over-35 and over-45 categories.

Lyndsay Darbyshire was second L45 in 35:43, with Kathryn Page fourth L50 in 42:34.

In the men’s race, Martin Whalley was the first Burnden member home, 23rd overall in 45:57.

Andy Staveley was first V55 in 47:19 and Keith Thomas third V55 in 48:42. Don Nichol was third V60 in 59:50.

The other Burnden members competing were Christophe Menand (52:47), Andy Duffy (53:56), Lawrence Keighley (55:00), Tony Wall (56:41) and Andy Warburton (1:06:30).

Lucille Corrigan and Dawn Evans headed off to Preston in search of Christmas treats at the Longridge Seven-Mile Christmas Pudding road race.

Corrigan managed to come in under the hour mark with a terrific time of 58:56 while Evans crossed the line in 1:22:09.
