THE top two teams in the Bolton Table Tennis League Premier Division showed their quality with resounding victories to finish the year in style.

League leaders Ramsbottom Cricket Club demolished Wharton 27-1 while second-placed Flixton Cricket Club A went one better by routing bottom team Coburg A 27-0.

David Scowcroft, who had yet to play for Ladybridge A, moved on amicable terms to Little Lever A who were short of players.

Coincidentally, the two teams met in Scowcroft's first match for his new team and Little Lever won 23-12 with their newly-acquired player winning eight points.

Third-placed Ramsbottom Town A beat a Hilton A side one place below them 21-15.

Another close encounter saw second-bottom Heaton Cricket Club A beat mid-table Nomads A 18-15.

In Division One, leaders Burning Desire kept firing with a 26-6 victory over mid-table Ramsbottom Town B, with nines for Brett Haslam and Ben Armstrong.

Second-placed Acre Bottom beat mid-table BRASS A 25-9 with nines from John Hope and Brian Clements while in a mid-table clash Coburg B beat Wingates 25-8.

Fourth-placed Hilton B lost 21-13 to Nomads B who are one place above them and were helped by a nine from Naz Ahmed.

Second-bottom Hilton C won the battle of the bottom two 25-13 against Meadow Ben A with a nine from Andrew Morey, and Farnworth SC A narrowly beat two-man Little Lever B 18-14.

In Division Two, mid-table Meadow Ben B had an expected win against two-man bottom team Top Spinners. The 26-7 success featured three close-fought matches.

Second-bottom Boyzone had a good 17-14 win against mid-table Hilton E despite a resisting nine from Gary Hilton.

BRASS B won 18-14 against the team next to them in the table, Heaton Cricket Club C, for whom David Jones won nine.

Mid-table Hilton F had an 18-16 win against Bolton TTC A, who are one place above them, helped by a nine from Matthew Kennedy.

The league now takes a break for the festive period and resumes week commencing January 2 with the second round of the Warburton Cup.
