IN the Sale Harriers-hosted Indoor Open Meeting at SportCity, the 60m sprints saw under-15 debutant Ben To run 7.67secs to finish fourth – a time that ranks him 49th in the UK.

Eniola Adedotun also debuted with 8.00s, swiftly followed by 8.12s which was remarkably consistent.

Both athletes ran the u15 EA national indoor qualifying standard time and hope to push for a medal at the Northern Championships in February.

Josh Povey, also making his first appearance indoors, clocked 7.73s in the u17 60m, while Kehinde Taiwo ran 7.94s. Hannah Kelly smashed the club record again in winning the 60m in 7.80s, with Taiwo Taiwo coming second in 8.04s. Taiwo followed this up with 8.05s in her second race and again, both have high hopes of winning medals at the Northerns.

Porscha Johnson won her heat in 9.09s and if she repeats this performance at the Northerns, she can certainly make the final.

In the 300m competition, senior Katie Eckersley employed perfect tactics to run away from the field and win her 300m heat in a time of 43.31s.

Jack Dickinson, competing as a senior for the first time, clocked a fantastic 37.09s to show he is overcoming the hamstring issues that hampered his 2016 outdoor season.

For the u17s, Kehinde Taiwo ran 40.59s for a new 300m personal best, while Olivia Kimbowa also competed on the boards for the first time, running 44.92s for third place.

Kelly, fresh from a huge PB and club record in the 60m, lined up in the 300m with high expectations.

The first target was to get her tactics right and then aim to beat the current club record of 42.0s.

Once the gun sounded, it was never in doubt – she looked imperious throughout the race and clocked 40.47s to smash her PB and the club record.

It was especially pleasing for coach Les Hall, who plans for Kelly to run the longer events more often next year.

In the 60m hurdles, Ciara Gettinby ran 9.82s to comfortably win her heat.
