A STRONG contingent of junior Blue Vests scooped medals at the Greater Manchester Sportshall Championships at SportCity in Manchester.
Both the under-11 teams returned with silverware for the fourxtwo-lap relay race, with the girls of Vesta Drevinskaite, Isobel Hall, Poppy Dunne and Idowu Taiwo collecting bronze and boys of Harvey Kenny, Vincent Worthington, Herbie Kay and Jack Kingdom winning gold.
Individual medallists for the u11s included Sam Hazelwood’s speed bounce (gold), Jack Kingdom’s one-lap sprint (bronze) and Poppy Dunne’s standing long jump (gold).
For the u13s, Luke Greenhalgh collected silver medals in both the shot put and speed bounce.
Elsewhere, the South East Lancashire Cross Country event at Leigh saw Molly Philbin’s (18:05) finish 14th in the u15s' race, while Karl Darcy collected a superb gold of the 164-strong field with 37:49.
It follows his fourth place in 33:33 at Burnley’s Townley Park in the Mid-Lancs Cross Country the previous weekend.
