MANNY Road moved a step closer to winning the Bolton at Home Sunday League Division Two title with an excellent 6-0 victory over Lostock FC.

They took the lead early on when Tom Helsby took the ball down the wing and put an excellent cross into the box which saw a Lostock defender knock the ball past his own keeper.

Manny doubled their lead 15 minutes later when Ryan Aspinall scored after some excellent work from Xavier Close.

Close got on the scoresheet himself five minutes before half time with an excellent individual goal, swivelling to fire into the top corner.

The second half started as the first had finished with Manny Road dominating and midway through Lee Hemmings added his name to the list of scorers when he saw the Lostock keeper off his line and coolly lobbed the ball over him from 30 yards. In the final minutes Nathan Peddle added two more to seal a well-deserved 6-0 victory.

The only other game in Division Two saw third-placed Deane FC draw 2-2 against a much-improved Atherton Villa FC – Karl Dumbarton and Mark Laithwaite the scorers for Deane.

In Division One, leaders Queen Anne came up against struggling Hulton Wanderers but did not have it all their own way.

In the first half both teams had chances and on 20 minutes Jack Burke thought he had given Hulton the lead but the Queen Anne keeper pulled off a miraculous save to his left.

This spurred Queen Anne on and five minutes later Mitchell Leece floated a superb cross from a free kick into the penalty box which found Kieron Edwards and he headed home.

Five minutes later Queen Anne scored their second goal through Stuart Schofield's 30-yard effort after the Hulton defence failed to clear Leece's long throw.

There were chances for both sides in the second half but no further scoring.

Elsewhere, Farnworth United travelled to Adlington to play Bridge Celtic and the visitors welcomed back stalwart Lance Hall after two months out with a back injury.

His presence inspired Farnworth as they ran out 4-1 winners with goals from Arron Monks, Scott Dootson, John Stephenson and Matt Crook, with Daniel Tierney getting a consolation for Bridge Celtic.

The third game in the top division saw Great Lever Taskers beat Bradford Arms 2-0 thanks to goals from Ian Par and Chris Cancalis.
