SKELETON rider Jack Thomas summed up the fine margin between success and failure after two mistakes cost him the chance to earn his best ever World Cup finish.
The 26-year-old Westhoughton slider was 14th after his first run at Königssee in Germany on Saturday, but fell back to finish 16th.
“I made one mistake in both runs and that cost me,” said the former Horwich RMI sprinter, who is 17th overall with two races remaining in his debut World Cup season.
“You can’t afford to make any mistakes at the top level, but that fact is making me improve at a really quick rate. It is a steep learning curve, but one I’m really enjoying.”
Thomas, whose best finish from his four World Cup races so far this season was 15th at Altenberg, will hope to better that at his next race in Igls, Austria, on Friday.
