BURNDEN’S Lyndsay Darbyshire and Anne Ferguson won their age group categories at the Terry Nortley 10-Mile Trail Race in Radcliffe.
Darbyshire won the female over-45 age group and was the third female finisher in 1hr 18mins 12secs. Ferguson was first F55 and 13th female finisher in 1:24:59.
Mark Jackson was the first Burnden member to complete the testing undulating course in a time of 1:12:20 with Gareth Doherty close behind in 1:14:31.
Steven Bate (1:19:28), Richard Blake (1:23:30), Mike Caine (1:26:57), Katy Thompson (1:27:01) and Linda O’Byrne (1:28:41) all came in under 90 minutes.
Other results: Carolyn Barker (1:31:08), Gayle Gerrard (1:31:23), Mark Kenny (1:34:36), Emma Walker (1:43:30).
Men’s captain Marcus Taylor led home the nine members who tackled the Lostock 6 road race, coming home in 37:51.
Ed Ashton was third V50 in 39:19, Maggie Slamin was first L50 in 50:50 and Jean Cameron second in the same category in 53:41.

Shirley Staveley had a strong run in Saturday’s Northumberland Coastal Trail marathon which followed a route along the sandy beaches and muddy headland of the Northumberland coast from Alnwick to Bamburgh Castle.
She finished 47th overall in a field of 187, 10th female and first veteran of any age category in 4:38:32.
Lorraine Halwood completed her 26th marathon at the Bolton Abbey Ultra event in Wharfedale. She completed the gruelling course in 5:16:32.
Gillian McGowan completed her first marathon in one of the most mentally demanding ways possible – 105 laps of a Warrington running track in the Winter Track Marathon. McGowan lapped at an average of 3:49 (fastest lap 2:46) for a total time of 6:42:02.
She was joined at the event by Jackie Oakes whose average lap speed of 2:21 (fastest 2:10) gave her a finishing time of 4:08:07.
Denise Hodgkinson was fourth V45 at the Oulton Park 10K with a time of 58:46.
George Butler travelled to Nottingham to take part in the National Cross Country Championships and in some shocking, muddy conditions returned a time of 43:14.
