MICHAEL Cayton showed his rivals a clean pair of heels in the annual Lostock 6 road race.
The Horwich RMI Harrier completed the six-mile course in 30mins 37secs, more than a minute and a half in front of his nearest challenger.
Bolton United Harriers' Tommy Harrison was next to cross the line in 32:15 with Antony Ford of Sale Harriers third in 32:34.
Dionne Allen, of Leigh Harriers, was the first woman home in 35:58 with Horwich Harriers' Lindsey Brindle (38.28) second and Grace Hadley of Blackburn Harriers third in 39:18.
There was a large entry of 305 runners for the 35th annual staging of the event which took place in almost perfect, dry, wind-free, warm conditions and was sponsored by Tobutt Sports of Bolton.
First home for host club Lostock AC was Colin Gregory (37:17) with the club's first women to finish being Heather Soden in 47:12.
Bolton's trio of Harrison, John Knowles and Chris Povey won the men's team competition, and Astley and Tyldesley Road Runners' Josie Maley-Jones, Louise Simpson and Joan Cooke won the women's team prize.
