BOLTON men's first team's relegation struggles grew with a 4-2 defeat to Golborne first team at Harper Green.

The local lads remain in the bottom three in North West League Division Three North.

Golborne, who are high on confidence and working their way up the table after a slow start, caused Bolton's defence difficulties with the pace and movement of their forwards.

Golborne opened the scoring on 10 minutes and it remained that way until the break.

Bolton opened the second half with a number of chances, the best of them falling to Keith Stanley who blazed over from close range after an excellent team move.

Bolton goalkeeper Matty Gaskell kept his side in the game with a number of saves before he was beaten with 10 minutes to go.

Bolton got a goal back but found themselves 3-1 down with four minutes remaining. The home side reduced the gap to one again through a smart finish from Keith Stanley but Golborne had the last word.

Bolton men's second team won 5-1 at Blackpool to ensure they will finish above Lytham and Southport and remain in North West League Division Four North.

After going a goal behind Chris Lord grabbed an equaliser and goalkeeper Tom Brants pulled off a fantastic glove save to deny Blackpool.

Bolton took the lead through Rob Lord to take a 2-1 lead into the break.

Bolton continued their good performance and impressive young striker Rob Lord grabbed two more to complete his hat-trick before right-back Vernon Shaw made it 5-1.

Bolton Beavers let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Lymm Beavers.

A good first-half performance saw Bolton defend well with goalkeeper Joe Birtwistle making some great saves and Will Burgess tap in the opening goal before man-of-the-match Oscar Ormandy made it 2-0 with a powerful shot.

A refreshed and cohesive Bolton hit back in the second half, equalising following some excellent teamwork between Jenny Neville and Ali Toft which saw the former deliver the ball towards goal and Toft provide the final touch.

And it was 2-1 shortly after when Hollie Smedley injected a short corner to Vicky Dean who slipped it left for Kerry Carinci to fire home a powerful, accurate strike.

Bolton ladies' second team went down 5-1 to Bury's table-topping first team.

After going two goals behind El Hawkrigg halved the arrears when she beat three players in a run through the middle and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 2-1 at half time.

Despite a fine performance by Becky Denton in defence Bury beat goalkeeper Megan Hayes three more times in the second half.
