BURNDEN’S Lesley Fisher came within 13 seconds of an astonishing win in the popular Muddy Bottoms 9-mile trail race at Bamber Bridge.

Fisher was denied but her time of 1hr 37mins 20secs earned her the first lady and first L55 places.

There were a string of fine club performances at the Northern 6 and 12 Stage Relays in Blackpool.

In the ladies' race over the longer 9.5-kilometre legs, there was little to separate the club’s two runners as Shirley Staveley ran the winding scenic course in 42:50 and Izzy Pollitt clocked in one second faster at 42:49.
