RAMSBOTTOM Town B are Warburton Cup champions after beating Nomads B in the final.

The victors made full use of their 51.5 points start as they won 362.5-341 at the Hilton Centre and lift the cup for teams from all divisions.

Two days earlier the semi-final saw Nomads give St Paul’s Peel 177.5 start and just beat them 390-387.5.

Town’s A team made it a club cup-winning double as they triumphed in the Brian Gittins Cup for the Premier and Division One teams.

They were five points behind Little Lever A – who started with an advantage of 58.5 points – after the first five sets but came storming back over the next four sets to win 379-327.5, again at the Hilton Centre.

In the semi-finals earlier in the week Ramsbottom gave Farnworth SC A a start of 149.5 and beat them 385-369.5.

In the George Yates competition for Divisions Two and Three teams, Meadow Ben C made use of their 65.5 start to overcome BRASS B 384.5-322.

The rounds leading up to the Closed Championships finals were also played last week.

In the handicap doubles, Charles Musa and Paul Brandwood beat Adele Spibey and Matthew Fishwick 12-10, 11-9, 11-4 and will play Peter McCormick and Sam Greenhalgh in the final.

The latter duo beat Chris Naylor and Bob Bent 12-10, 11-7, 9-11, 10-12, 11-7.

In the level doubles competition, Musa and Brandwood beat Stephen Scowcroft and David Scowcroft 11-6, 13-11, 11-4 and will face Majid Tubasum and Khamal Hussain in the final after the latter pair beat Keith Dale and Nadeem Ahmed 11-6, 11-4, 11-7.

The level vets competition for players aged over 40 saw Musa again taste victory with a 14-12, 11-4, 11-9 win against Tony Bates.

In the final he will play Stephen Scowcroft who beat Tony Worthington 11-5, 2-11, 15-13, 10-12, 11-9.

In the handicap singles competition, Musa was at it yet again, beating David Scowcroft 12-10, 11-3, 9-11, 11-9 to set up a final against Mohammed Sagied who beat Brian Hallsworth 11-8, 11-5, 4-11, 11-7.

The level singles semi-finals and final will be played on finals night as a prelude to the final.

Stephen Scowcroft will face Tony Worthington and Majid Tubasum will meet Musa.
