THE LTA’s Great British Tennis Weekends provide everyone with the opportunity to have a go at tennis.

This year events in Bolton will take place over the weekends of May 13 and 14 and July 22and 23.

The Bolton venues for this weekend will be the USN Arena, Markland Hill Tennis Club, Lostock Tennis Club, Eagley Tennis Club, David Lloyd Leisure and the public courts in Moss Bank Park.

There will be qualified coaches at each venue who will ensure everyone attending can try their hand at the sport at an appropriate level and with the right equipment which will be supplied, although participants should wear trainers.

The events are open to people of all abilities, even people who have never picked up a racket.

The coaches will get everyone started in the right way.

All age groups and family groups are welcome.

The theme of the events is to give people of all ages, fitness and standards a chance to become involved in the sport.

Tennis is regarded by those involved as a sociable, friendly environment which offers a fun way to exercise or satisfy that sporting competitive edge.

Local sessions will take place on Saturday at USN Bolton Arena between 10am and noon, David Lloyd Leisure (2pm-5pm), Moss Bank Park 1pm-3pm; Sunday at Lostock Tennis Club 9am-noon, Markland Hill Tennis Club noon-5pm, David Lloyd Leisure 2pm-5pm, Eagley Tennis Club 1pm to 3pm.
