THE fifth round of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix was hosted by Radcliffe with their Joan Rhodes and Fred Norris Memorial 5K in suitably summery conditions for the field of 190.

Tommy Harrison recorded 16mins 47secs but narrowly missed out on another win in a sprint finish with Leigh’s Phil Williams, while the squad of 12 included the returning trio of Andy Barrow, Danny Shaw, Tom Carson and life member Ken Mayor.

With the Northern Masters Championships also incorporated, Ken Fowler achieved the rare feat of three M60 wins in one race.
