BOLTON darts fans will get the chance to challenge two of the sport's biggest characters – Peter Manley and Joe Murnan – after part of a one-day charity tour of the region.

Manley, a three-time runner-up at the PDC World Championships and current chairman of the Professional Darts Players Association, will be accompanied by Bolton-based pro Murnan on a whistle-stop visit of 10 Blaze Inn pubs in the North West.

The event, which will take place on Sunday, July 30, will start at the Gilnow Arms in Deane Road, Bolton at 1.30pm and continue at the Lamb in Blackburn Road at 2pm.

They plan to spend 30 minutes at each venue, where names will be drawn out of a hat for the chance to play them.

Spectators will also get the chance to have their pictures taken with PDC walk-on girls Jessica and Hollie.

After stopping off at pubs in Oswaldtwistle, Accrington, Wigan, Bryn, Golborne, St Helens and Warrington they will finish up at the Hilton Park in Leigh at around 9.15pm.

Tickets to challenge the two stars are on sale, priced £1, at all participating venues or online at petermanleyscharitychallenge.events/

All proceeds from the day will be split between two charities – St Rocco's Hospice in Warrington and Breast Cancer Care.

Dad-of-two Manley's wife, Chrissy, a former professional darts player herself, recently had to undergo surgery for breast cancer.

Mark Dean, Murnan's manager, said: "We hope the people of Bolton really back the event, come out in force and buy as many tickets as they can afford.

"Joe was only too happy to support Peter when he came up with the idea.

"They are two really important charities and, obviously, the aim is to raise as much money as we can, but I think everyone will have a lot of fun in the process."
