BURNDEN’S Liz McLellan was fifth in the women’s event at the English Half Marathon at Warrington and third F40 with a superb time of 1hr 30mins 37secs.

She was one of six club members who travelled to Cheshire for the popular event with Ben Knight the next to finish in 1:52:21.

Mark Kenny crossed the line in 1:58:41, followed by Steven Yates (2:04:10), Emma Holden (2:07:53) and Phil Holden (2:08:00).

Elsewhere, Andrew Duffy was fourth M55 at the Bury 10K, posting a time of 42:31.

Sarah Sutcliffe was third F40 in 47:17 as her preparations for the Loch Ness Marathon continued well.

Other results: David Broadhurst (50:15), Jeff Pendlebury (53:17), Emma Walker (53:48), Louise Fox (55:49), Debra Hennessey (58:32), Peter Whiteside (1:09:16), Gillian McGowan (1:10:23).

The club’s social trip to Huddersfield for the quirky Wineathlon event was a huge success – an eight-mile trail race punctuated by wine stops to keep the spirits up with competitors tackling the course in fancy dress.

The Burnden theme was school uniforms, and it was distinctly more St Trinian’s than Eton or Harrow.

However, the club still recorded notable success with Lesley Fisher winning the ladies' race in 1:09:00 and Isaline Pollitt third in 1:11:42.

Other results: Martyn Pollitt (1:11:42), Carolyn Barker (1:28:20), Craig Philpot (1:28:20), Louise Wall (1:28:30), Tony Wall (1:28:30), Louise Bentley (1:39:30), Nia Bell (1:39:30), Don Nichol (1:40:00), Phil Glassbrook (1:40:00), Don Taylor (1:40:30), Gwen Kinloch (1:41:20), Claire McKenna (1:41:20), Lucille Corrigan (1:41:20), Julie Newton (1:41:20), Jackie Oakes (1:41:20), Andy Warburton (1:41:30), Jenna Leeks (1:55:30), Sarah Watton (1:55:30), Natalie Whelan (1:55:30), Vicki Hamer (1:55:30), Debra Hennessey (2:10:30), Dawn Evans (2:10:30), Sally Cottrill (2:10:30), Karen Taylor (2:12:30), Gillian McGowan (2:12:30), Diane Smith (2:12:30), Peter Whiteside (2:12:30), Gemma Chapman (2:12:30), Rachael Howarth (2:12:30), Tracy Cameron (2:28:30).
