FARNWORTH United veteran Gaz French proved he can still cut it with the best in the Bolton at Home Sunday League with five goals to help his side to a 7-2 win against Manny Road in Division One.

At 38, French is arguably the longest-serving player in the league but shows no sign of easing up as Manny Road found to their cost.

Although the final scoreline does not suggest it, the game was a close affair in the first half and after 10 minutes Manny Road took the lead with an excellent finish from Xavier Close.

Then, 10 minutes before half time, up popped French to get his first of the day to make it 1-1.

As the second half started, Farnworth began to show their class and with 15 minutes gone had already taken a 4-1 lead as French completed his hat-trick and Joe Cappy made it four.

Manny Road made it 4-2 thanks to Jack McDonald, but Farnworth were not going to let them back into the game and Martin Brown extended the lead to 5-2.

With 10 minutes left, French netted two more to complete a resounding victory.

On Hulton Lane, reigning champions Queen Anne took on Farnworth side Dehaviland and won 4-1.

It was another tight game with Queen Anne only securing the win late in the day.

Their goals came from Chris Donahue, Gaz Cunniff, Dev Southerman and Carlton Evans, with Kristian Preston getting Dehaviland's reply.

Little Hulton side Top Club travelled to Adlington to take on the much-improved Bridge Celtic and claimed all three points from a 7-2 victory.

Their goals came from Adam Doyle (four), Steve Binns (two) and Aiden Knight, with Ross Barron replying for Bridge Celtic.

The last game in Division One saw Newbury take on Astley Bridge Elite at Harper Green, with Astley Bridge edging an 11-goal thriller 6-5.

Astley Bridge’s goals came from Kevin Myftaraja (three), Reece Carroll, Anthony McCluskly and Jordan Hindley with Craig Sloane (three), Dominic Sharples and Shayne Smith replying for Newbury.

In Division Two there were two games and the first saw Heaton Casuals edge out Bolton Town 2-1.

Heaton’s goals came from Phil Markland and Dave Morris, with the ever-reliable John Yates replying for Bolton Town.

The other match was a one-sided affair as Wellington FC took on Bolton Rangers and the game finished 19-1 to Farnworth side Wellington.

Due to other commitments, Bolton Rangers had five players missing from their usual starting line-up and Wellington FC took full advantage.

Wellington's leading scorer Brad Jackson helped to improve his tally for the season with four of their goals.
