DEDICATION to her ringcraft brought Madison Haworth her just rewards, in the form of a British title belt.

The 16-year-old, who trains at Kearsley Muay Thai in Farnworth, won the battle of Britain against Ellie Burr.

The five one-and-a-half minute round match went the distance but the decision went the Bolton fighter’s way after a hugely impressive performance.

That victory not only extended Madi’s perfect record in the ring to eight wins from eight, it also saw her return home clutching the under-68kg title belt.

Success does not come easy but the youngster gives herself the best possible chance of success, as she hones her skills by training four times a week at the Muay Thai club.

Trainer David Knowles said: “Madi’s clinch work and scoring kicks worked well for her throughout the fight. The other girl was good but she just couldn’t handle Madi’s power.

“She works so hard, training four times a week and deserves her success, hopefully she will continue her success.

“It is hard to find opponents for her, to be honest. Not many girls of 15 or 16 are as dedicated as Madi.

“Obviously dedication is very important in the sport and you can see how dedicated Madi is with the record she has.”

Madi’s mother, Jem, said: “Madi’s dad originally took her four years ago to Thai boxing for fitness and as a hobby to meet new friends. She has come a long way since then with eight wins from eight fights.

“We are so proud of her determination and dedication to the sport.”
