THIS week's delve into The Bolton News picture library has unearthed a photograph of the Bolton Boys Fed under-12s inter-league team from October 2001.

The accompanying information says the team won the Umbro Cup and were also in the semi-finals of the Lancashire FA Youth Cup but that is all we know.

Do you recognise anyone in the line-up or were you part of that team?

If you have any memories to share, email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk

THE second picture was first published on December 21 and features the Bolton Wyresdale team of 1978 that was preparing for two finals in two days.

Reader Brian Aspden got in touch and said: "Although I have lived in Doncaster since 1983, I have fond memories of playing with half of the people in the picture.

"I played for Bolton Wyresdale and Francis Browns in the 1968/69, 1969/70 and 1970/71 seasons.

"The players names I can remember that I played with are, back from left, Tom Mort (manager of Francis Browns), second lad I can't remember his name but he's Scottish, Pete Horrocks, next three don't know and on the end Pete Freeman; front, first two don't know then ? Hutchinson, Dennis Rose (?), ? Bailey.

"The players' names were playing for Francis Browns and seeing the picture brought back many memories from 46 years ago.

"I also remember Pete Freeman, who called everyone brother, scoring a goal for Francis Browns at Eagley Mills FC from inside our own half, kicking slightly up hill."

John Wardle also shared his memories and said: "The team from left on the back row is Tommy Mort (manager who has passed away), Alan Gowan (passed away), Pete Horrocks, me, Steve Metcalfe, Billy Williams, Pete Freeman; front, Eric Brabin, Wayne Dickenson, Keith Hutchinson, Dennis Rose (passed away) and Baz Bailey.

"Missing from the photo is Phil Marsden who has passed away.

"Wyresdale went on to win both finals that year."

Steve Dickinson added: "My Dad, Wayne Dickinson, was one of the players featured and he informs me they won both games (1-0 and 2-0).

"The second one is very impressive as I suspect a few drinks would have been consumed after the first game.

"Thanks for publishing the photo, it made my day to see a picture of my dad as a young man."
