KEVIN Longthorne won one of the oldest cups competed for at Bolton School when he took gold in the annual Boys’ Division Year 7 gymnastics final.
The competition, which has been running for more than 100 years, was close-fought as contestants exhibited some of the most impressive balances and travelling movements in recent years.
Eight boys competed in a dramatic final played out in front of the whole year group and their teachers.
The PE staff judging the competition had a tough task to choose between them as each pupil performed their six movements and balances in a number of almost flawless routines.
Second prize went to Tom Griffiths with James Bowie finishing third.
