THIS week’s delve into The Bolton News picture archives has found a photograph of Egerton County Primary School six-a-side football team from May 1989.

The caption accompanying the old snap says the team were joint winners with Bolton School of the Bolton Borough School Sports Association John Corner Cup after the final ended in a goalless draw.

Did you play for the team or do you recognise anyone in the line-up?

Do you have any memories of that game or how the team fared that year?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any recollections.

THE second picture first published on January 11 has already evoked memories of the Bolton Schoolboys team from March 1984.

Last week, reader Dave Price sent in his recollections and more have come in to The Bolton News offices.

Andrew Gibbons spotted himself on the picture and said: "I saw the article in the paper can confirm that I am in the Bolton Schoolboys team featured.

"Interestingly, the picture contains two players who either were, or should have been featured in the Mount St Joseph’s picture below it in that same edition – Paul Griffin and Jonathan Senior.

"However, the reference to the game against Sheffield is correct and unfortunately we lost the game 2-1 at Burnden Park.

"I cannot remember the names of all the players, but I know the majority.

"They are, back from left, Gareth Williams, Keith Welch, Paul Maher, Stephen Round, Carl Maddrick, Paul Griffin, David Willetts, me, not sure; front, Keith Hill (now manager of Rochdale AFC), Ian Foster, Brian Whittingham, Jonathan Senior, not sure, not sure and Mike Thompson."
