BOLTON won four medals at the Greater Manchester Winter School Games.

St Joseph’s RC High won silver in the inclusive tennis competition, and there were bronze medals for Ladybridge High Year 7/8 (boys' handball), St James’ High (under-13s table tennis and Bolton School (Year 4/5 girls swimming).

A large contingent of teams from Bolton took part in the annual games which also included athletics, basketball, boccia, gymnastics,, hockey, lacrosse, netball, new age kurling and rugby league.

They earned their places at the county Games final by winning, or producing successful performances, at a series of Bolton School Games competitions held in the weeks leading up the event.

Bolton was one of the towns and boroughs in Greater Manchester who staged their own school games, with a total of 140,751 children taking part across the county.

The focus now turns to the Greater Manchester Summer School Games which will take place on Friday, July 6.
