BURNDEN’S Sarah Woodiwiss put in an ultra effort tackling the Liverpool to Manchester 50-Mile race on Easter Monday.

Woodiwiss followed up her great effort in last month’s Chester Ultra by completing the L2M event from the Albert Dock in Liverpool to Didsbury Sports Club.

She battled through snow, downpours and cold temperatures to complete it well up the finishers’ list in 113th place and was the 31st female runner to cross the line.

Two days earlier, George Butler was the first club member to finish the Rivington Pike Fell Race at Horwich, posting a time of 22mins 48secs, just a few seconds ahead of Paul Duke who clocked 23:02.

Steve Nolan was first V55 in 23:31 and Isaline Pollitt won the L50 category in 27:58.

The first member to finish in the women’s race was Paula Pilling, who came home second L40 in 26:05.

Martyn Pollitt was second V55 in 24:41 and his time plus that of Butler, Duke and Nolan earned Burnden third place in the team standings.

Duke, Nolan and Pollitt’s time also took third place in the Vets team ranking.

Duke was fifth overall and first V40 in the first of this year’s three Curley’s 5k races with a time of 20:16.

Isaline Pollitt was first F50 in 24:08, while Phil Glassbrook took the V70 category in 30:51.

Martyn Pollitt was second V55 in 22:28, Vicki Hamer second SF in 23:54 and Don Taylor second V65 in 29:09.

In the F45 group, Burnden had two runners in the top three places, with Lorraine Halwood second in 27:15 and Emma Walker third in 27:57.
