LOSTOCKER Nikki Hamerton pulled off back-to-back age-group victories in the second of the Curley's 5k series. Posting a time of 26mins 49secs, she was again first in her age group in the midweek race series.

Paul O'Brien was 14th overall in 22:43, while James Jackson, Stuart Hatton and Paul Walton were third, fourth and fifth in their respective age groups with times of 22:47, 23:51 and 24:46 respectively.

Ian Burns, Jocelyn Chadderton and Alan Mather completed the Lostock contingent with times of 30:07, 30:13 and 30:17.

Elsewhere, Chris Taylor headed to the Lake District for back-to-back fell and orienteering races.

On Saturday, he was one of five Lostockers to complete the Coledale Horseshoe fell race with a time of 1:58:16, alongside Adrian Hope (1:50:07), Mark Shuttleworth (1:52:45), Mark Checkley (2:54:17) and Jocelyn Chadderton (2:58:21).

The following day Taylor competed in the second Kong Mini Mountain marathon on the slopes and valleys of Helvellyn and Glenridding where he was 17th in his age group in the four-hour orienteering event.

Seasoned fell runners Tony Marlow and Albert Sunter finished 11th and 15th respectively in their age group, while the three Lostock women all had top-10 age-group finishes.

Abigail Sunter was sixth in her age group, Josie Greenhalgh fourth and Michele Sunter fifth.

The Manchester Marathon saw club chairman Paul Speed running for charity and Kerry Varden complete her first marathon in times of 4:33:40 and 4:21:28 respectively.

Mark Liptrott posted 3:33:31, Adrian Lowe 3:54:09 and Phil Sloane 4:40:19.

James Jackson and Cathy Stratton started their triathlon season at the West Lancs race in Ormskirk.

Jackson posted an overall time of 1:08:01 and Stratton 1:18:26 over the 400m swim, 20k bike ride and 5k run.
