FOR the second straight year Glodwick are the runaway champions in the Bolton Table Tennis League Premier Division.

They ended the season 45 points clear of nearest challengers Ramsbottom Town A after beating Radcliffe CC 27-4 in their final league match.

Ramsbottom finished just four points ahead of Flixton CC A, despite Flixton beating them 22-13 with nine points from Paul Cicchelli.

Burning Desire prop up the table after they ended with a 19-16 defeat to Hilton A. After their 20-20 draw with Flixton CC B Ladybridge A are second-bottom.

In Division One, Ramsbottom Town C, who had been playing catch up finished top.

They concluded the season with a 23-15 win against Little Lever CC B with nines from Martin Holt and Sandy Choong.

Hilton B and Coburg faced each other in the final week and Hilton B took the match 22-16 to finish second, just two points ahead of Coburg in third.

At the bottom, Hilton E and Heaton CC A ended adrift of the rest of the pack. Hilton lost 18-15 to Wingates with a nine from Wingates’ John Bradbury and Heaton lost by the same score to Meadow Ben A, despite David Hall’s nine.

Division Two’s top two teams, Bolton TTC A and Polonia Club A, were way ahead the rest of the pack and finished the season by meeting each other.

In the final match, Polonia Club A took the spoils 22-14 with a nine from Dawid Kakol but Bolton TTC A end the year at the summit.

At the foot of the table are Meadow Ben C, who lost 26-8 to Ladybridge B with nines coming from John Cole and Brian Greenhalgh.

Just above them are Farnworth SC C, who lost 19-14 to third-placed St Paul’s Peel, for whom Lee Devenport took nine points.

With only one loss and one draw, Walkden Methodists have topped Division Three throughout the season.

They finished the campaign with a 17-17 draw against Hilton G, Martyn Rolling with a nine for Hilton.

Second for most of the year, Hilton H slipped to third as they were overtaken by Hilton’s F team, who finished with an 18-13 victory over Irlam Steel SC.

With no fears of relegation, second from the bottom are Farnworth SC D, while a special mention must go to Meadow Hill B who, now in their fourth year at the bottom of the league, still bounce back with eagerness and enthusiasm.

This week the Closed Championships take place with the finals and presentation scheduled for Monday.
