LANDMARK: Lorraine Halwood celebrates her 40th marathon with Jackie Oakes, who finished third

BURNDEN’S Paula Pilling was in dominant form at the Radcliffe 10K at the weekend.

Pilling was first F40 and third overall in the women’s race with a time of 46 minutes exactly.

Andrew Duffy was the club’s first male finisher in 47:53 followed a few seconds later by Sarah Watton, third FS in 48:00.

Don Nichol (50:49), Phil Holden (55:15), Emma Walker (59:46), Debra Hennessey (1:11:55), Louise Geoghegan (1:24:05), John Hall (1:23:59).

Lorraine Halwood completed her 40th marathon at the Old Colliery Canter in Royston.

Halwood came 28th overall in 5:07:20. Jackie Oakes was third in the women’s race and 19th overall with a time of 4:49:19.

Mumtaz Patel and Carolyn Barker tackled the half distance at Royston and finished third and fourth respectively in the women’s race. Patel was 16th overall in 2:00:17 and Barker close behind, 17th overall in 2:00:49.

There were several 10K events spread across the region which attracted members. Simon Marland won the M55 category at the Overgate 10K in Halifax, crossing the line in 45:52. Sue Blackman finished the course in 1:21:00.

Dave Swift chose the St Helens 10K and finished in 44:11 while David Broadhurst travelled to the Whitley 10K and registered 46:33.

Diane Smith and Gillian McGowan were tackling three disciplines again. This time at the Clitheroe Tri.

Diane’s combined time of 2:57:45 comprised 11:56 for the 400m swim, 1:50:48 for the 30K bike section and finished with 55:02 for the 8K run.

Gillian was out of the pool in 16:32, and covered the bike course in 2:04:06 before finishing with 1:11:45 for the run, registering a combined time of 3:32:23 in the process.
