MARTIAL arts rising stars Kian Dodd and Harvey Knowles will take on the world later this year after starring at the WMO British Championships.

The youngsters brought back a gold and bronze from the national event to qualify for the World Championships in Portugal in October.

Kian, aged 11, of Tonge Moor, won gold, while Harvey, of Little Lever, took the bronze.

The talented pair are members of North West Warriors Martial Arts and Fitness Club.

Nine-year-old Harvey recently moved up a weight class, meaning he often fights opponents up to two years older.

Paul Smith, head instructor and owner of North West Warriors, said: “We have very high hopes of big success at this year's world championships.

“We have a great structure and training plans to ensure both athletes will be ready and in peak shape. Both Kian and Harvey train very hard and are very focused.

“With both fighters already winning British titles there is no reason why both of our students won't win WMO world titles this year.”
