BOLTON’S Scott Taylor reached his first PDC ranking final on Saturday afternoon with a superb run to the final of PDC Players Championship nine.
Taylor’s run to the final was remarkable, including a superb 6-4 victory over two-time world champion and world number four, Gary Anderson.
En route to the final, Taylor enjoyed 6-4 victories over top-quality opponents Davy van Baelen and Steve Beaton either side of a 6-1 win against Wayne Jones. In the last 16, the former Westhoughton High School pupil averaged a staggering 108 as he took apart Steve West 6-1, going on to defeat Anderson in a 6-4 victory. In the semi-finals, Taylor enjoyed a 6-3 success against Jason Lowe.
In the final, Taylor put up a terrific battle against the world number one, Michael van Gerwen, and despite losing 6-4, he put in four terrific legs of darts including an 11-darter.
Each of the four of the legs Taylor won were obtained in 14 darts or less.
The 26-year old averaged 92.7 in the final, and will take a lot of confidence from his performance throughout the course of the day moving forward.
Over the seven matches he played, Taylor averaged 94.53, and fired in 16 maximums.
