THIS week’s delve into The Bolton News picture archives has thrown up this photograph from April 1987 of the Bolton Under-14s and u15s town team squad.

There is no other information accompanying the picture and we would like to know more.

Do you recognise the faces in the squad or did you play for the team?

Do you recall how they fared at the time?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any recollections.

THE second picture was published in last week's sporting nostalgia section and features Withins School Under-12s football team from 1989.

We asked for any memories and several readers got in touch.

Tracy Fitton emailed: "Our son (my stepson) Jaime Fitton is on the picture – bottom row, first on left (white trainers and big smile).

"He loved football and he also played Gaelic football for a while.

"Sadly Jaime died in 2000 shortly before his 23rd birthday but thank you for picking the picture – it made our day seeing his beaming face."

Kelly Hough named several on the picture including: Matthew Ackers, Marc Robinson, Ste Bainbridge, Neil Thompson, Chris King, Tony Fay, David Cornwell, Jaime Fitton and Jason Owen.

Meanwhile, Neil Lovatt said: "I am just left of centre on the front row, I played in that final I think at left-back.

"Names I can remember are as follows: back row, from left, Matthew Ackers (defence), Marc Robinson (right-back?), Steven Bainbridge, Neil Thompson, Jason Fitzryk, unknown, Chris Boothman, Simon Duckworth (winger), Daniel Nicolle; middle, Robert Haslam, Pal Speakman, Brett Metcalfe (midfield), Anthony Faye, David Cornwall (centre-forward), unknown; front, Jamie Fitton, me, Lee Greenwood (captain), unknown, Jason Owen (striker).

"I can't recall too much about the day, I think it was pretty hot and a hard/dry pitch.

"David Cornwall was usually first-choice centre-forward and was most likely among the goals.

"The manager was Mr Rawlinson, a tough no nonsense sort of a guy who would have made Bruce Rioch look like a soft touch.

"We would have been in shape, well-drilled and well-prepared for winning that final."
