MOTORBIKE racer Andy Guy is going for glory on two fronts after a winning start to the season.

The Bolton rider had a double first when he won at both the Aintree and Thundersport GB championships.

Truck driver Guy got off to a flying start in the Aintree Championships with a victory in the first round, and he currently occupies second place in the Thundersport GB after three rounds.

His successful start to the season has given him the inspiration and confidence to compete for honours in both competitions.

The Egerton man said: "The wins have given us the drive and energy to keep giving it our all.

"We were up against some big names of Aintree including regular TT racers and Aintree f600 lap record holder Josh Daley, so I was made up when I managed to get a great start to first place in the final and held off any challenge to bring home our first win of the season by more than three seconds.

"We left Cadwell park smiling after three brilliant results and a fantastic points haul which, as we approach the mid-point of the season, puts us in second place in the championship, only 13 points from the top.

"It's all to play for and we can't wait for the next race."

At Aintree, Guy was placed back on the fourth row in 13th on the grid for the qualifying race and fought his way to fourth place and a front row start for the final.

Riding in the Formula 600 class, he then outdid the big-name riders in the final to cross the line first.

That put him and his team in high spirits going to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire where, in the sportsman 600 class of the Thundersport GB, he won the first race and finished second in the second and third races.

The next round of Thundersport GB is at Mallory Park this weekend.
