UNDETERRED by doubts over the future of their century-old club, five enthusiastic members of the Bolton Bridgeman ASC synchronised swimming team continued their progress at a development course at Preston on Sunday.
Under the watchful eye of their experienced and highly-qualified coach Cath Hesketh, the synchro team that finished third in last year’s Lancashire Novices Championships, learned new techniques and skills designed to improve the standard of their performances.
Bolton Bridgeman, which was founded in 1901 and is one of the town’s oldest sporting organisations, is in danger of folding because of declining membership and a shortage of helpers.
Based at Turton Pool, Bolton Bridgeman has seen its membership fall from more than 250 a decade ago to around 30. Officials, who are hoping to recruit new members and volunteers to help keep the club alive, are reviewing its viability on a month-to-month basis.
The club meets on Fridays, 8.30pm to 9.30pm. For details, call Mrs Hesketh on 01204 521839.
