Yates selected for Commonwealth Games

BURY cyclist Simon Yates has been included in the England men’s track team for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The 18-year-old was one of 20 bikers to be selected and comes on the back of his gold medal success at the World Junior Track championships at Montichiari, Italy, where he was part of the British madison team which bagged the gold medal.

The youngster – a member of Bury Clarion Club – was also part of the British team which won the silver medal in the team pursuit.

Bolton Olympic gold medalist Jason Kenny was not named in the squad.
