Manchester Phoenix have announced the return of Czech Republic centre Robin Kovar for a second season.

Kovar put up impressive numbers in Phoenix' championship-winning team last season, scoring 36 goals and 42 assists. This earned him a place in the EPL Second All Star team. His quick hands and skill down centre ice was one of the highlights of Phoenix’ campaign.

30 years-old Kovar, born in Valasske in the Czech Republic, was a 4th round NHL draft pick by Edmonton Oilers in 2002.

Kovar said: “I really enjoyed my season here and the organisation is a good one to play for. It was great to win the championship and we were really unlucky not to win more trophies. I was surprised at the number of minutes I iced and was very tired by the end of the season but I know what to expect now and will be ready for the challenge in September.”

Phoenix Coach Tony Hand had this to say about the talented centre: “Robin had a very good season last time out and 70+ points is a good return. He knows what to expect of the league and what is required and I am sure he will be a great asset again for us.”
