GREAT Lever and Westhoughton stole the show in the BGA inter-club league A last week when the Farnworth club used home advantage to produce a 7½-½ mauling against Dunscar while Westhoughton delivered a decisive 7–1 victory to demolish the fancied Chorley.

Westhoughton team captain, Stephen Lane, was elated with their home victory.

He said: “We had a few players back that were missing last week but despite the result it was pretty close.

"The highest individual score was a 3&2 win so amazingly it still could have gone either way.”

Great Lever are now top of the table five points ahead of the field with Westhoughton in second place.

Hindley Hall opened their account for the season and produced a stunning 5½-2½ home victory over Bolton who have now lost two matches in a row.

The Lostock side have had to endure two consecutive away matches and find themselves next to bottom.

Tonight they host lowly Dunscar and will be desperate to turn to winning ways.

In League B, Deane have made a good start to their campaign beating Turton in the previous week and took charge against Regent Park with a 5–3 victory and go top of the table.

The local match between home team Harwood and local rivals Breightmet went to the wire with Harwood clinching a narrow 4½-3½ win.

Hart Common hosted Turton last week and came away with a creditable 4½-3½ result leaving Turton without a win in their first two matches who meet Breightmet away tonight and will be keen to put a win on the board.
