DIVAS strengthened their position at the top of the Eagley League with a 15-run victory in the top-of-the-table clash with Davies XI.

BB Belles, who have three games in hand on the leaders, kept in touch with a comfortable victory over bottom side Darcy E, while Redgate overpowered Eagley Pike Ladies to stay fourth.

Parceline remain joint bottom on four points, but came close to improving their position as they went down by only five runs to Astley Bridge Ladies.

In the Farnworth League Section A, third-placed Elton Vale A inflicted a first defeat of the season on leaders Wally’s Eleven.

Elton, who are third, three points behind Wally’s with a game in hand, won an exciting game by 21 runs.

Elton led 73-55 in the first innings and edged the second innings 75-72.

Second-placed Capital Catering had a comfortable win over bottom side Elton Vale B which kept them two points ahead of Elton but having played three games more.

Second-bottom Grapes started the day without a point as a result of The New Inn’s record being expunged following their withdrawal from the league.

But Grapes recovered from a 13-run first innings deficit to beat BYP A and recover the points to move them off the bottom of the table.

In Section B, Rupert Ladies C joined Hulton Lane Ladies on six points, beating them by 21 after being six ahead at the interval.

Blades Barbers also had a close first innings, leading by 10 runs, but pushed on to beat CRS by 33. These two now share second place in the table, but CRS have a game in hand.

BYP Ladies B had a comfortable win over Aura Ladies who are blooding some new young players for the coming summer season.

All outstanding games have been rescheduled with the last ones due to be played on March 28.

Next Sunday’s scheduled tournament has been cancelled and replaced by rearranged matches.

The Halliwell League programme was postponed due to unfit pitches.
