COMEBACKS are not uncommon in rounders, but last week’s Section G top-of-the-table match between BB Belles and KC Ladies saw one of the most remarkable recoveries in recent memory.

Batting first in a new kit and watched by their sponsor, leaders KC Ladies produced their worst performance.

They were dismissed for 38 runs and BB Belles rattled up an impressive 125.

Shocked by their poor performance, KC proceeded to score 146 in their second innings before dismissing their opponents for just 34 to win the match by 25 runs.

The result moved KC Ladies four points clear of BB Belles at the top of the table, but just two ahead of Darcy Lever C&SC. They lost by 19 to Kearsley CC B after trailing by 53 on the first innings.

Varnish Industries are also two points adrift after they beat bottom side Contract Services by an innings.

The Grapes B are the main challengers to unbeaten Section B leaders Westside XI after they demolished Lower Pools.

Their first innings score of 77 runs was unremarkable, but they then dismissed Lower Pools for just seven, including three bad balls as only three batters scored.

Lower Pools scored 45 in the second innings, including 16 by J Voiels, 18 by C Walker, six singles and six bad balls.

As the league reaches the halfway stage this week, all eyes will be on Tuesday’s Section A match between unbeaten Rupert Ladies A and Darcy Lever C&SC A, who had a scare last week against Rupert Ladies B.

Leading by 21 runs in the first innings, Darcy were pegged back and won by 117-112.

The delayed Senior Interleague match will be held at Darcy Lever CC on Friday.

The Over-45s match at Elton Vale SC has been moved to Thursday, July 1, because of the World Cup.
