YOUNG Wanderers defender Andy Kellett marked the extension of his loan at Plymouth Argyle with his first senior goal on Saturday.

The 21-year-old left-back starred for the Pilgrims and scored after a mazy run in a 3-2 win against Northampton.

The goal came just days after the Whites agreed to extend his loan at Home Park into a third month and he will stay in the South West until January 17 – taking his stay to the maximum 93 days.

Kellett, who made his senior debut for Wanderers at the end of last season and made three appearances, has played 10 times for the Argyle side managed by former Whites midfielder John Sheridan.

And after his first goal, Plymouth coach Paul Wotton has praised the youngster, saying: “He has been threatening to do that for a while; he goes on those runs, and he travels with the ball really well.

“It opened up for him, and he showed great composure in front of goal. It was a great little outside-foot finish, and you will struggle to see a better goal this weekend, you would have thought.”

“He is good player, and got good ability. He takes the ball in any situation, and what I like about him is that he trains really hard as well – he is a good pro.”
