COULD Emile Heskey solve Wanderers' attacking quandary at Millwall on Friday night?

That is the question Neil Lennon may be mulling over after two more frontmen were added to the injury list at the weekend.

Heskey was back training with the Whitesyesterday after spending a few days in Mumbai as an ambassador for former club Leicester at the Barclays Premier League Live promotional event.

Lennon was already planning talks with his former Foxes colleague this week but may now be pressed into moving things forward quickly.

After handing the former Liverpool and England striker a chance to shine at Wanderers, the boss has been suitably impressed.

And he says any deal would be a no-brainer, much like the recent addition of another veteran in the shape of Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Lennon said: "He is back and will start training again.

"It is very early days but he has looked well, he looks fit. The physical stuff he has been asked to do, he has handled it okay.

"His football is good. I am not saying it is a done deal and he knows that as well. Neither of us are under any illusions as to what lies ahead. We will continue to have a look at him like we did with Eidur and if we feel he has got something to offer, we will consider it.

"There is no pressure on either side.

"I don't know if people are raising a few eyebrows. But when you have a player of that quality – and Emile has been a quality player for a long time – when they come along and they are free, it is not going to cost the club a lot of money, because we don't have a lot of money, then I feel it is worth a look at."

With Max Clayton and Joe Mason joining Craig Davies in the treatment room, the manager's options are limited up front with youngster Conor Wilkinson and Eidur Gudjohnsen the only natural strikers available at present.

Davies has a slim chance of recovering from a hamstring strain for the trip to South London but Mason is not expected to play again until well into the new year after tearing his hamstring while the club are awaiting the results of a scan yesterday on Clayton's knee problem that forced him off against Ipswich.

Heskey could be the answer for Lennon and while the forward is still waiting to see if there is a deal on the table, he is keen to get back playing in the English game.

Speaking at the Premier League event in India, Heskey said: "I’m training with them [Bolton], we’ll see how it fits for both of us.

"I’m just getting my fitness up.

"I know Neil Lennon, he’s given me the opportunity to train hopefully with a view to playing.

"I'd definitely like to get back into English football."
