DOUGIE Freedman played down the importance of victory against his former club Wanderers yesterday.

The Nottingham Forest boss, who left the Macron Stadium in October, masterminded a comprehensive 4-1 victory at the City Ground.

Chris Burke scored twice in the rout with Henri Lansbury scoring from the spot and man of the match Michail Antonio adding a wonderful solo effort.

Adam Le Fondre scored the Whites’ consolation with a penalty, while Matt Mills was also sent off for a second bookable offence.

Freedman, who has taken 10 points from a possible 12 as Forest boss, refused to stoke up the importance of the victory.

“It did not mean more to me, no. I am a professional manager and they are my former employers,” he told The Nottingham Post. “It means nothing different to me, because it is still just three points.

“I had some wonderful times at Bolton, I met some good people and I will leave it at that. I am focused on winning games for Nottingham Forest, that is all.

“I am happy because we got the result, a great performance and deserved three points. I thought we attacked with great numbers in the first 30 minutes, we scored two wonderful goals and could have had more, if not for a few saves from their keeper.

“We could have had four or five goals in the first half, the keeper made some saves and there were a couple of very good blocks. That is the way the game goes.

“When we had a set-back I was looking forward to seeing how we responded to it, but we were fantastic in the second half. We kept the game plan going and we kept the pressure on the Bolton defence. It was noticeable that we went right at them from the off, right from the start of the game.”
