WANDERERS midfielder Neil Danns is relishing a first taste of international football with Guyana on Sunday.

The Liverpudlian has been picked by the South American country for the first time.

And while he was not involved in a 2-0 home win against St Lucia on Sunday after only arriving a few hours earlier, he may get his chance in next weekend's friendly against Grenada.

The 32-year-old, who has already signed a new one-year contract to keep him at the Macron Stadium next season, told Sky Sports news HQ: "It's a new experience going to play at an international level and obviously a different tempo and different styles of matches.

"It's one I look forward to being involved in. When I first got the call I was actually really excited because I've never really thought about it.

"It never crossed my mind that I would get an opportunity to play international football, and as soon as I got the call I was excited and really, really enthusiastic about it."

Danns is one of eight Wanderers first-teamers who will be on international duty over the next fortnight.

Barry Bannan is likely to be involved for Scotland in tomorrow's friendly against Northern Ireland and Sunday's Euro 2016 qualifier at home to Gibraltar, while Tim Ream is in Jurgen Klinsmann's USA squad for friendlies in Denmark tomorrow and Switzerland on Tuesday.

Adam Bogdan is back from injury and hoping for some game-time on Sunday when Hungary host Greece, while the return of Eidur Gudjohnsen for the Iceland national side could come in their Euro 2016 qualifier in Kazakhstan on Saturday.

That same night, Wanderers loanee Simeon Slavchev is on duty with Bulgaria for their home qualifier against Italy.

At under-21 level, Conor Wilkinson – who scored the winner for loan club Oldham at Crewe on Saturday – is in the Republic of Ireland squad for their first Euro U21 Championship 2017 qualifier against Andorra on Thursday, while fellow front man Georg Iliev could figure for Bulgaria against Wales in Cardiff in seven days' time.
