NEIL Lennon reckons Wanderers got the least they deserved by rescuing a point late on against Charlton Athletic.

Adam Le Fondre snatched an equaliser 11 minutes from time to cancel out Frederic Bulot’s early strike in what proved a difficult evening for the Whites.

Lennon felt the half-time grumbles which spread around the stadium were unjust but was far from happy with some aspects of his side’s display.

“We should have won – I’m frustrated,” he told The Bolton News.

“We had all the play and they scored from their first attack.

“I thought some of the booing at half time was a bit harsh because some of the build-up play had been quite good. We’d had 10 attempts on goal, so it wasn’t as if there wasn’t application or a will to score.

“But our quality and composure was poor and we should have won that game comfortably, and that’s the frustration.

“We’ve gone with a bit of youth and creativity and I think sometimes you need to have a bit of patience but there’s no question we were the far better side.”

Mark Davies made a welcome return from injury as a second-half substitute in what was his first game for Wanderers since November.

His arrival, along with Emile Heskey, signalled the fight-back and Davies also created an excellent opportunity for Liam Feeney to score a winner with just a few minutes remaining.

“Mark Davies was a sight for sore eyes because he’s a good player and he gets other players playing,” Lennon said.

“It was a great bit of football but he (Feeney) has to hit the target, he just needed to side-foot it in.

“There were a lot of things that pleased me and a lot of things that annoyed me as well.”
