NO news was good news for Wanderers yesterday amidst strong speculation linking Neil Lennon with the vacant manager’s job at Leicester City.

It is understood there has been no dialogue between the two clubs despite the Whites boss being installed as the bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Nigel Pearson at the King Power Stadium.

Sources in the East Midlands claim Leicester’s Thai owners have not yet drafted a shortlist, having only dispensed with Pearson’s services on Tuesday night.

But were the Foxes to make any offer for the Northern Irishman, talk at Wanderers yesterday suggested it would not be welcomed.

Some bookies had cut odds on Lennon replacing Pearson to 2/1 yesterday, with ex-Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce also strongly backed.

But Wanderers carried on regardless, Lennon and his staff taking training as normal yesterday at Euxton.

The manager is due to fly out with the squad to Austria on Sunday for a pre-season fitness camp, which will also take in friendlies with Sturm Graz and SC Paderborn.

The transfer window opened yesterday, allowing the Whites to confirm two new signings in the form of Ben Amos and Gary Madine.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Amos made 10 appearances on loan last season and posed wearing the number one shirt on his official Twitter account after training.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Whites and thanked his former Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who handed him each of his seven first-team chances with the Reds.

“Thanks to Sir Alex for giving me my opportunities and everyone else at the club who helped me develop. On to the next chapter,” he wrote.

“(I’m) delighted to be back! Preparations are well under way for this season.”

The club confirmed that striker Madine has signed a two-year contract following the expiry of his deal at Sheffield Wednesday.

Madine – who spent time on loan at Blackpool last season – turned down the opportunity to stay at Bloomfield Road, and a late offer from Leeds United to sign with Bolton.

Darren Pratley’s contract renewal was also announced, the midfielder signing a deal which keeps him at the Macron until 2018.

And two deals involving players released by Wanderers were also rubber-stamped, with Adam Bogdan’s move to Liverpool and Matt Mills’ move to Nottingham Forest confirmed by their respective clubs.
