NEIL Lennon confirmed that skipper Darren Pratley missed tonight’s 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United with a back strain.

The midfielder was left out of the squad at Glanford Park but Lennon believes he will be available for the start of the Championship campaign against Derby County.

“It isn’t a major thing – in fact we don’t have any serious concerns with any of the players who are out at the moment,” he said. “They are niggling injuries more than anything else and while it’s not ideal, I’m not unduly concerned.

“Darren should be back soon, probably for the game against Charlton.”

Josh Vela scored the Wanderers goal in an entertaining draw, equalised by Paddy Madden’s controversial penalty just after half time.

Lennon was pleased with what he got from a side still shorn of several key players.

"We looked good, should have won the game. It was a very dubious penalty but I'm pleased they are all getting up to speed,” he said.

“Josh scored a great goal and we created plenty of chances through the game. Yes, we missed a few but that's not the point - the fact we're creating quality chances pleases me."

"I don't remember Ben Amos really having much to do, so that's two good back-to-back performances now."
