NEIL Lennon reckons Prince is getting on royally with his new team-mates.

Prince-Desir Gouano arrived on loan from Italian club Atalanta just 36 hours before making his debut against Derby County last weekend.

The French defender wowed the fans with a solid performance in the 0-0 draw but sat out the midweek defeat to Burton Albion as a precautionary measure as he nursed a slight thigh strain.

Prince returns to training today at Euxton and is expected to be part of the squad which travels to Middlesbrough looking to build on the encouraging point they gained against the Rams.

Lennon believes the former Juventus defender has been quite struck by his new surroundings and is looking forward to seeing more of him on the pitch.

“It’ll be good to see him back out there and we think he’ll be fit,” he told The Bolton News. “He loved the experience against Derby. His family were here and they just loved everything about the club and the atmosphere.

“That was a really good start for him. It couldn’t have been easy and it would have been a blur: flying in, all the negotiations, then a game, hardly meeting the players. He seems in a pretty good place.”

Lennon has been helped with any language difficulties by Prince’s defensive partner last weekend, Dorian Dervite, but believes the 21-year-old is coping well with the change in cultures.

“His English is good, just as long as you speak slowly to him, which rules Garry Parker out entirely,” he said. “He has got Dorian there to help him with any translation problems but on the whole he’s settled in really well and we’re very pleased.”

Wanderers welcome Jay Spearing back from suspension for the Boro game but will be without Darren Pratley for the next few weeks with ankle ligament damage.

Liam Trotter will also be out until the international break with a hamstring injury, while Derik Osede is also a couple of weeks away from a return.

It is hoped Max Clayton could step up his training in the next week, as he comes back from a long-term knee injury.
