WANDERERS could rush through a short term deal for Spanish defender Jose Manuel Casado as cover for the injured Dean Moxey.

The former Rayo Vallecano defender has trained with the club for the last week and now looks set to be offered a contract after Neil Lennon’s only senior left-back Moxey limped out of Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at MK Dons with a toe injury.

Results of Moxey’s X-ray were still unclear as The Bolton News went to press last night but Lennon is aware he may have to act quickly.

Speaking on Tuesday night, the Wanderers boss indicated he would look to recruit rather than use existing options such as Andy Kellett or Filip Twardzik.

“Dean got a whack on the top of the foot and he’s in some discomfort,” he said. “We don’t have a senior left-back at the moment to cover but we were aware of it and we’ve looked at other players in that position.

“We do need cover. We do need another player in.

“I’ve had at Jose in for a week on trial and it’s not ideal but the financial situation is tight at the minute and we’re going to have to work some deals.”

Cosado started out in the youth ranks at Barcelona and Sevilla and then went on to make more than 100 appearances for Rayo Vallecano.

Last season the 29-year-old played alongside new loan signing Wellington Silva at Almeria.
